I’ve never kenneled my dog before, what should I expect?

All dogs will have their very own private 4X6 kennel designed just for them. Please note that we do not provide bedding, food, or toys during their stay. However, you are more than welcome to bring whatever items you think will help make your dog(s) feel the most comfortable and at ease. We understand that dogs can become extremely nervous when placed in new situations, so we are more than happy to customize our approach to meet their unique needs and preferences.

Will my dog be safe during “Interactive Group Play” since they’ve never done it before?

Not all dogs fit in daycare. We introduce them slowly, and if it’s not a good match, we’ll move them to private day boarding. Extremely anxious or fearful dogs usually aren’t suited for daycare. If your dog is a flight risk, we’ll also put them in private boarding. Please be honest about your dog’s behaviors to help us prepare. Previous daycare experience doesn’t guarantee comfort in a new environment.

My dog isn’t fixed, but I want them to play with other dogs. Why isn’t that possible?

Unaltered dogs can disrupt the pack's behavior. Unfixed males are often more aggressive and tend to mark their territory by peeing frequently. For the safety of our staff and the pack, we do not allow unfixed dogs to participate in interactive group play.

Are your outside fence areas secure?

All outdoor areas are fenced at 8 feet high to keep dogs safe. If we think your dog might run away, we'll keep them on a leash during bathroom breaks and use an airtag to track them. We ensure the safety of dogs prone to escaping and take all necessary precautions. No dogs are left outside alone.

Will pet owners know what their dog did during their visit?

Seward Dog Lodge clearly shares information about your dog's behaviors. We believe it's important for owners to learn about any new behaviors, so they can inform other dog daycares to ensure a smoother stay for their pets. New experiences can be stressful for dogs, and it may take time for them to adjust to unfamiliar environments. This is normal and not a reflection of you or your dog.

Can our dog join Dog Adventures even though we don’t live in Seward, but live in Alaska?

Dog safety is our top priority. There are many risks we can't control. We need to understand your dog's personality before allowing them to roam in the Alaskan wilderness.
